Research Field: Traditional Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Traditional Chinese Flower-and-Bird Painting, Ink Painting and Calligraphy Art

Born in Shanghai in 1954, Professor Zhan is a member of MJ.ORG.CN. He studied under the famous traditional Chinese flower and bird painter Mr. Qiao Mu and received teaching and guidance from Tang Yun, Xie Zhiliu, Fang Zengxian and other masters. Currently, Professor ZHAN serves as a professor at ICCI of SJTU, also as Deputy Director of Shanghai Culture Research Center of SJTU, and deputy Director of Central Kaiming Academy of Minjin. His works have been collected by Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Lee Kuan Yew, James Soong, Yasuhiro Nakasone and Yang Zhengning.

Professor ZHAN launched about 40 online lectures on "Learning Flower-And-Bird Painting with Mr. ZHAN" and 40 lectures on "Flower-And-Bird Painting" on China Education Television. Professor ZHAN published more than 20 books, textbooks and paintings collections. In June 2011 Professor ZHAN was appointed as permanent academic advisor to the Royal Endowment for the Arts of England. In September 2017, he was appointed as a distinguished professor at Japan Women's University of Fine Arts.
