The new era bestows upon us a new mission, and new ideas to guide us in a new journey. Responding to the boom in China’s cultural and creative industries, University of Southern California(USC) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University(SJTU) jointly established the USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI) in 2015. With the focus on internationalization, interdisciplinarity and industry-orientation, ICCI consolidates global resources to address industry demands across entire value chains and segments. Taking creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship as core alignments with market and industry, ICCI is committed to cultivating versatile industry leaders with such spirit, and becoming a new interdisciplinary platform for developing global talents.

“When heaven and earth unite in deep harmony, peace and blessing descend upon all living creatures”.  I sincerely hope that ICCI will hold its great vision both in heart and mind, facilitate SJTU’s endeavor to develop into a world-class university with world-class disciplines, elevate in our talents capabilities for innovation, social service and cultural communication, strive to be a world-class base of cultural industries and talent cultivation, and contribute to SJTU’s mission of becoming a world-class university with distinct Chinese characteristics.

The University of Southern California and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have enjoyed a longstanding relationship as academic partners. This Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI) further strengthens the partnership between our world-class universities and deepens our ties as a global academic community. Bringing together our research and teaching resources, USC and SJTU will create a new generation of leaders with a global perspective and innovative capacity – leaders who strengthen the development of the rapidly expanding cultural and creative industries of China. And much like SJTU, USC has an expansive global alumni network. The combined alumni strength will be a unique resource for students at the Institute, who will find connections throughout the Pacific Rim.
