The Final of 3rd Think Youth Competition International Tournament – Business Category Ignited Excitements

On July 13, the final of 3rd Think Youth – Shanghai International Digital Creation, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Competition International Tournament, Business Category, was held successfully at DOBE Bund 8.

A total of more than 60 projects from 10 countries participated in the competition with teams coming from University of Southern California, EmLyon Business School, HEC Montréal, as well as Chinese Universities and younger entrepreneurs from One Belt And One Road countries like India, Ukraine, and Singapore.

Guests present at the final included Prof. Jinzhang JIANG, Vice Dean of USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI), Bo JIA, Founder and Chairman of Shanghai DOBE Cultural & Creative Industry Development Co., Ltd., Dr. Gulei JIANG, Professor of HEC Montréal, Ms. Yi WANG, Founder of Ten billion institute, Cenjun FAN from Shanghai Ivy Capital, Weizhi CHEN from China Materialia LLP, Ben ZHOU from Volcanics Venture, Juanjuan WANG, Vice President and Chief Editor of Tencent sh.QQ.com. Governmental experts were also invited such as Hui ZHOU, Division Chief of the Sinology and China Studies Division, Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and Pinfang HUANG, Director of the Office of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

The roadshow of the International Tournament – Business Category started from May, and 4 projects were selected eventually to compete in the final. Another 6 excellent projects shortlisted by Hanban also joined in the final. After rounds of presentation and Q&A sessions, the top three finally emerged:

BeacoHealth project of Yi XIONG from University of New South Wales, which could help medical institutions improve the compliance rate of Hand hygiene through the technology of artificial intelligence and computer vision.

Trimode obstacle-surmounting ground-sweeping robot project by Yukang ZHANG and his team from SJTU. The robot could march forward, backward or horizontally, and sense obstacles through ultrasonic wave and infra-red sensing system. It could not only clear weeds but also perform pesticide spraying through machine-learning and image recognition.

Tenzorum project by Ewaldo Moritz Neto from Brazil, which is a manage platform of network key in the distributed block chain that could solve the biggest problem of end consumers and enable the usage of block chain technology by everyone.

The first prize winner was awarded the right to use 10 work stations globally for 3 years, and the second and third prize winner 5 work stations for 2 years and 1 year respectively.

For the International Tournament – Short Video Category, we have received over 100 works worldwide and 5 were selected to be the winners of outstanding short videos. They were first prize winner-My Own Tomb from Yanfang WANG, Shanghai University, second prize winner- Cinematic Iceland Roadtrip from Huangshan Hongtao, National University of Singapore and Day and Night of Wugong Mountain from Duo AN, Guangxi University for Nationalities, third prize winner- Sound of Dialect from Sai CHEN, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and My Body is a Cage from Na LI, Shanghai University. They will also receive the supporting resources for content creation that are worth 0.5-2 million Yuan.
