Introduction

Since 2018, USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (hereinafter referred to as ICCI) has successfully held four sessions of the International Conference on Global Cultural and Creative Industries. In December 2022, ICCI will host the 5th International Conference on Global Cultural and Creative Industries.

As an emerging frontier industry with creativity at its core, operating in the context of economic globalization, the development of the cultural and creative industries cannot be separated from the exploration of cultural ontology and the search for cultural values.

With the social changes and innovation brought by the latest wave of technological progress, from deep learning to virtual digital human, human-computer interaction to the meta-universe, people have generated new demands and changes in the way they consume cultural and creative content, the design style of cultural and creative products, and the current situation and trend of display of cultural products.

The exploration of digital culture and creativity, intelligent culture and tourism, and computational art brought about by traditional Chinese fashion and technology has emerged as a new tendency in the development of cultural and creative industries today. While science and technology have empowered these industries, they have also compelled people to ponder the social role of cultural values: what new opportunities and challenges does the integration of culture and technology bring to the cultural and creative industries and cultural and creative education? What kind of aesthetic values and social representations will be formed by the innovation and reinvention of technology and art? How can technology expand the fascination with culture while promoting the development of the cultural and creative industries? What kind of cultural values will be conveyed by the art of technological fidelity? How will technology and art guide the identification of cultural values? How will the cultural and creative industries develop in the era of digital intelligence?

In step with the development of the times, the 5th International Conference on Global Cultural and Creative Industries (2022) will be held under the theme of "Art, Technology, and Cultural Values." We extend a warm welcome to scholars and industry professionals from home and abroad to explore new issues, challenges, and opportunities,  to give cross-disciplinary inspirations to the development of the cultural and creative industries, and to discuss new trends in the development of industry-university-research of global cultural and creative industries.
