Zhou Dong is an Associate Professor and Graduate Supervisor at the SJTU ICCI. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Riverside, and a Bachelor's degree from the School of Economics at Fudan University. Grounded in the theoretical foundations of micro-applied economics, psychology, and sociology, her research focuses on interdisciplinary studies in the social sciences, exploring the impact and mechanisms of digital technologies on economic and social development, as well as individual behavioral decision-making. She investigates the patterns of cultural participation and consumption in the digital era within the Chinese context and their societal implications.


Dr. Zhou has led and managed several significant research projects, including two funded by the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Foundation, one by the National Natural Science Foundation for Young Scientists, one international collaborative project, and one Shanghai Talent Program. She has also participated in key national research initiatives, such as those under the Ministry of Science and Technology's Key R&D Program and the National Social Science Fund. During the past ten years, she has published contributions approximately 30 peer-reviewed articles in SSCI and CSSCI-indexed journals and written three books. In addition, she has been awarded the Shanghai Pujiang Talent title, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University SMC Morning Star Award for Outstanding Young Scholars, and honors for teaching excellence, including the Candlelight Award.
