Nine Thirty in the morning of 2021 February 5th Beijing Time, the 2nd Council Meeting of International Association of Cultural and Creative Industry Research (IACCI) was held both online and offline. Winmin ZHANG, Dean of USC-SJTU Institute of Creative and Culture Industry (ICCI) , Ke XUE,Vice-Dean of ICCI, Jun WANG,the Vice President of VISUAL CHINA GROUP (VCG) attended the meeting. Shantanu DUTTA, USC Academic Director ICCI and Professor of USC Marshall School of Business, Ben Lee, USC Co-Director of Zizhu New Media Management Research Centre and Professor of USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, William Latham, Professor of Goldsmiths College, University of London, and Terry Flew, Professor of Queensland University of Technology, former President of ICA attended the meeting online from different cities abroad. At the meeting, consensus was reached an agreement on the development vision and objectives, management structure and main responsibilities of the society, and a heated discussions were held on the theme of the new international conference in 2021 and the arrangement of a new round of scientific research projects. The meeting was co hosted by Ben Lee and Ke XUE.
Zhang Weimin first introduced the background of the establishment of the International Association of Cultural and Creative Industry Research. As one of the core founders of the association, ICCI has made remarkable achievements in cultural and creative industry talent cultivation and cultural and creative research and development after five years of development, and its global influence has been continually increasing. In order to better integrate global cultural and creative research resources, promote international cooperation in cultural and creative industries, build a good research and communication platform for the excellent global cultural and creative research teams and researchers, and provide better cultural and creative knowledge services for the society, ICCI and USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism first established the IACCI on the 3rd International Conference on Global Cultural and Creative Industries held in November 2020
At this Council meeting, all participants unanimously elected Winmin ZHANG , Dean of ICCI, as the first president of the Institute. Winmin ZHANG said that in the future, he would spare no effort to work with directors from all over the world to create more opportunities for global cultural and creative education and academic research, seek better development opportunities, and strive to build the IACCI into one of the most influential academic institutions in the field of international cultural and creative education research.
Subsequently, the members of the council discussed in detail about the construction objectives, tasks, positioning, organizational structure and main work areas of IACCI, defined the responsibilities and division of labor in the management structure, including the Council and the Executive Committee, and shared the management experience of the International Institute in different fields. Through better division of labor and cooperation, the participants hope to provide strong support and help for the scientific research team engaged in cultural and creative industry research, and cultivate a high-quality professional talent team for international cultural and creative academic exchanges.
The conference also discussed the scientific research fund projects and work flow to be released by the association in the near future. The participants agreed that the society should attract more professionals to participate in the selection and evaluation process of the project, strictly control the research quality, further improve the academic level, provide funding for the scientific research team with professional level and international vision, and provide a high-quality communication platform for the cultivation of outstanding international cultural and creative talents by creating more sharing experience and learning opportunities.
Finally, Weimin ZHANG made a summary speech as the new chairman of IACCI. He said that as one of the main sponsors, ICCI would make more efforts and devote itself to the sound and sustainable development of IACCI in the future. IACCI would focus on attracting more talents from all over the world and recruit more elites from different fields of cultural and creative industries to join the expert group, sharing the latest cutting-edge academic achievements through international conferences and open research platforms, jointly enhancing the academic discourse and social influence of IACCI, and building a new international platform for subjects integration, open cooperation and research of cultural and creative industries.
