On May 15, 2024, Dr. Áine Sheil, Head of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies of the University of York, visited the Zizhu teaching and research base of the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (ICCI). The delegation was warmly received by Weimin ZHANG, Dean and Party Secretary of ICCI, along with representatives of the young faculty.

Weimin ZHANG extended a heartfelt welcome to the delegation, emphasizing that this exchange played a positive role in leveraging each other's strengths and promoting discipline construction, academic exchanges, and international cooperation. Alex MA, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean(Research) of ICCI, introduced the development history and interdisciplinary construction of the institute. He highlighted ICCI's unique characteristics of "internationalization, interdisciplinarity, and industry orientation" and shared successful cases of integrating cultural industries with technological innovation in recent years. Dr. Áine Sheil shared successful experiences of the School of Arts and Creative Technologies in talent cultivation, scientific research, and project collaboration, as well as their achievements in teaching practices in music, drama, film, television, and interactive media.

Both parties then engaged in an in-depth discussion on creative talent cultivation, interdisciplinary construction, joint academic research among faculty, and the deepening of international cultural exchange projects. They unanimously agreed to continuously strengthen their interactions and collaborations to achieve mutual benefits.

 

Before the exchange meeting, Dr. Áine Sheil and her delegation toured ICCI’s interdisciplinary research laboratories, including the 4D Technology and Film Lab, the Intelligent Music and Film Sound Lab, and the CG Animation Creativity Lab. They also explored the international teaching environment and the public space for extracurricular activities.
