President of LASALLE College of the Arts Visited ICCI

On May 22, 2024, Weimin ZHANG, Dean of ICCI, along with Vice Deac Feng ZHAO, met Stephen Robert Dixon, President of LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, at Zizhu Teaching and Research Base. Participants also included Yifan ZHU, Deputy Director of Global Cooperation and Exchange at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Geoffrey Alan Rhodes, long-term professor and head of academic affairs at ICCI.

President Stephen Robert Dixon provided an overview of LASALLE College of the Arts, highlighting its achievements in various disciplines such as design, creative management, arts management, film arts, theatre arts, music technology, and performing arts. He also detailed the college's collaborations with top global arts institutions.

Yifan ZHU shared insights into the international education efforts of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, emphasizing recent collaborations with Singaporean universities. Currently, SJTU has signed inter-university cooperation agreements with over 150 renowned overseas institutions, so as to facilitate student exchanges, research visits, and joint degree programs. More than 100 laboratories are open to international students. He also welcomed students from LASALLE to  actively participate in diverse summer exchange and research internship projects of SJTU.

Weimin ZHANG warmly welcomed President Dixon and others. He briefly reviewed the fruitful outcomes of previous exchanges between the two institutions, and expressed hope for deeper collaboration in areas such as discipline development, faculty and student exchanges, course cooperation, research sharing, and joint degree programs.

The participants engaged in comprehensive and in-depth exchanges and discussions around the above-mentioned areas of cooperation.

Before the meeting, Stephen Robert Dixon and his delegation, accompanied by Feng ZHAO, visited various educational and research facilities at ICCI, which included students’ course work exhibition, the film arts and technology laboratory, the post-production media center, the intelligent music and film sound laboratory and so on.

Founded in 1984 by Brother Joseph McNally of De La Salle, LASALLE College of the Arts is a comprehensive art institution. It is one of two private colleges in Singapore granted the same status as public polytechnics by the government. The college emphasizes a blend of theoretical and practical education, fostering comprehensive academic creativity with state-of-the-art teaching facilities, artistic practice, and creative spaces.
