Foreign Professors Visited Shikumen for Shanghai Culture with ICCI Perspective

“I’ve been here for six years, but it’s my first time to touch and feel Shanghai culture so closely,” said Professor David L. S. Hung from University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute to his foreign peers. He was very happy to complete this special monkey panda paper-cut.

On the afternoon of December 14, hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University International Cooperation and Exchange, undertaken by ICCI, the Shanghai Culture Experience Day Activities was carried out in Tianzifang.

Their first stop was Shanghai Glass Art Museum

Their second stop was Chen Yifei’s studio site.

In Li Shoubai Studio, Mr Li Shoubai, modern meticulous color painter, Shanghai-style paper-cut artist, praised as Mr. Shanghai Shikukmen by the media visited the scene and taught simple Shanghai-style paper-cut.

At the Arts Center, Li Yanbo, an associate professor of architecture and urban planning at Tongji University, was invited to share with teachers the fruits of his years of collecting and studying Shanghai Lilong neighborhood.

With old photos, precious history and data analysis shown to attenders, all people felt the transformation of Shanghai and Shikumen architecture in contemporary and modern times.
