On October 26-27, the world renowned documentary theorist, thinker of communication studies, first Lincoln Professor at University of Lincoln (UK), Emmy Awards winner, Brian Winston had a public session on “Art, Artists and Society” at USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry (ICCI), and was invited to give two wonderful lectures at the Shanghai Film Museum Master Class for both students and audiences.
In-School Public Session: Explore Documentaries Made With Digital Tools
Professor Brian said that the photographer’s thinking mode is one of the decisive factors to promote the development of documentaries.
In his message, Professor Brian encouraged students to seek answers to the questions and promote the development of Chinese documentaries in the future.
Museum Lecture: Review the Development of Film Digitalization with Students
Shanghai is the birthplace of Chinese film. Shanghai Film Studio created the prosperity of Chinese film in the last century. On the afternoon of October 27th, accompanied by Associate Professor Yu Tianqi, Professor Brian was invited to join the Master Class at Shanghai Film Museum along with postgraduate students enrolled in 2015.
Public Course: Share Years of Practical Experience with the Audience
At 7 p.m. on October 27th, all seats in the hall on the first floor of the Museum were occupied. Yu Tianqi, an Associate Professor at ICCI and documentary producer, had a face-to-face talk with Professor Brian on the topic of local documentary practice and shared their experience related to the topic.
