Yale University delegation conducts an in-depth visit and a rigorous conversation on cooperation and development of art talents

On the afternoon of March 22nd, Weimin Zhang, party secretary and the dean of ICCI, and Professor Bin Zhou, received a visit from the delegation of Yale University, including Pericles Lewis, Deputy Provost for International Affairs, Hongyu ZHAO, professor and also the Head of Department of Biostatistics of Yale University School of Public Health, and Fawn WANG, Director of East Asia, Department of International Affairs. The other accompanying members included Weiliang Xia, Associate Dean of Zhiyuan College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU); Weimin Zhong, a visiting professor at SJTU; Hui Lu, distinguished Professor of Life Science and Technology College; Dahai, Zhao, associate professor of the School of International and Public Affairs; Rong Huang, director of the International Exchange Department of the School of Medicine; Xianming Zhang, director of the Office of Translational Medicine Construction; and Liang Guo, deputy director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department.

Pericles Lewis, along with the rest group, visited in sequence Chinese Calligraphy Culture Education and Communication Center, SJTU-Manheng VR Innovation Education Experimental Center, ICCI art exhibition hall and other innovative educational facilities and space. Pericles Lewis spoke highly of the advanced teaching facilities at ICCI.

In the following luncheon, Dean Zhang introduced the development process and branding activities of ICCI, and detailed on its "Internationalization, Interdisciplinary, Industry-orientation" talent-development model. Pericles Lewis gave a brief introduction of Yale University and exchanged views in-depth with Dean Zhang on the cultivation of artistic talents. He stated that Yale University boasts reputational art academies and drama academies, and has accumulated rewarding experiences in the cultivation of artistic talents and the two sides could probably conduct further cooperation in terms of artistic talent training and development in the future.

After the lunch meeting, Dean Zhang invited the Yale University delegation to participate in the "Three-person" International Calligraphy Tour where works of Professor Bin Zhou, Ban Ki-moon, and RoyYe are presented. The exhibition will be held at the Kroon Hall of Yale University from April 15th to 16th. Professor Bin Zhou presented a calligraphy souvenir to Mr. Pericles Lewis.


“Three-person" Calligraphy Art Exhibition International Tour

"Three-person" Calligraphy International Tour will present works by international renewed calligraphy master Professor Bin Zhou, former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and calligrapher Roy Ye. The topic of the exhibition is ingenious in the creation of materials, content and form, which is drawn from the fact that the exhibition takes place at Forestry and Environmental Research Institute of Yale University, and that Professor Bin Zhou and Roy Ye co-edited the Chinese meteorological science "24 solar terms" calligraphy cultural readings. The exhibition is mainly hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the Yale University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (ACSSY), and is assisted by the Institute of Forestry and Environment of Yale University, Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (ICCI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Chinese Calligraphy Culture Education and Communication Center, and the International Calligraphy Federation (UN NGO).
