Joy Chen

Artist and curator, PhD in Fine Arts from China Academy of Art, ICCI ART VALLEY PROGRAM Visiting Artists, 2024 Joint Technology and Arts Programme at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, now lives and works in Hangzhou.

Chen Wenhua's creations are mainly based on the boundary between virtual space and real space. He explores the significance of the landscape that is presented by the collision and intersection of virtual space and real space. He emphasizes the random ‘operational scenarios’ generated by the computer world itself or by the bugs that appear in the transformation and is good at capturing the most common and simple things in daily life, exploring the essence of things through discursive linguistic processing, and analyzing the relationship between the real and the illusory, the existence and the transformation, and the perception and the cognition through semantically diversified images. The relationship between reality and illusion, existence and transformation, perception and cognition.
